As my fiance and Icountdown until we say our nuptials the hardest decision we are having to make is picking a venue for our wedding...or deciding if we want a wedding at all or just get married on a beach somewhere. Either way, my goal is to save as much money as possible and DIY most of the planning. Here are 3 apps that I think are must haves for any bride planning her wedding:
1.The Knot Wedding Planner App- this app gives a timeline of what you should accomplish each month until the big day. It also has a budget planner, guest list, vendor searches, and my favorite feature on this app is it allows you to create your wedding website all from the app. 2.LadyMarry- It has all of the same features as The Knot Wedding Planner app but it lacks the wedding website creator. The main feature on this app is it breaks the guest list down into categories from the bridal party to the groom and bride guest lists. 3.Wedivite- this app is definitely a great way to save money on invitations. This allows you to send an E-invitation that includes directions to the venue for your guests, reminders loaded on the google calendar to remind you of the big day, an e- guestbook which allows your guest to write messages, allows you to keep track of confirmed guests and RSVP lists, song requests from your guests, as well as allows your guests to share photos from the wedding. I think this is an amazing way to save money on invitations that can be quite pricey, and it allows you the convenience of keeping track of your guests from your mobile phone. These are just a few of the apps I ran across that can save you time and money as you prepare for your big day! xoxo Today Beyonce shared with the world beautiful pictures of her twins. Beyonce is the reigning Queen of fabulous and flawlessness. Here are 5 things I think every woman can learn from Queen B.
5.Take lemons and make Lemonade...forgive but dont forget. As the world applauded Beyonce on her phenominal Lemonade album Beyonce revealed some painful experiences in her personal life. Beyonce shared with the world her husband's infidelities. Instead of leaving her husband and dragging him through the mud...they are still married and she capitalized off of it by making a hit album. (Don't Hurt Yourself is in my top 10 favorite songs) You go girl! 4. Make sure you have a BFF or sister who can handle your dirty work for you...so u can remain unbothered and pretty...We all saw that elevator footage of Solange and Jay Z. We also saw Beyonce too...Enough said :) 3. Learn that sometimes God does his best work when you are alone. Destiny's Child is one of the greatest and most successful singing groups in history. Beyonce's best friend, Kelly Rowland was also a member. The girls had been in a group together since childhood. I dont think it was easy for Beyonce to start a solo career and leave to of her closest friends, but all of the ladies are very successful in their careers. Sometimes God requires us to go solo so we can depend soley on him. 2. Don't judge a book by its cover. Let's be honest, Jay Z isnt a looker. Beyonce...well, she's Beyonce she could have had and probably could still have any man she wants, but it was something about Jay Z that made her fall in love with him and give him 3 beautiful babies. It wasn't his money because when they first met he was just an artist on Rockafella records. She could have done like so many women probably would have and said, "Ooh girl, no. I can't date him. He isnt even cute." She didn't say that...and now they are worth over a billion dollars combined. 1. Girl power ROCKS!!! Embrace the power of being a woman. Tbe main reason why I love Beyonce is because she glamorizes Girl Power. Long gone are the days of retro thinking that women are weak, fragile, and should be submissive servants to their husbands who can only be successful in domesticated roles.Beyonce is a prime example of how every part of being a woman is beautiful from motherhood, to being a wife, female entertainer, and activist. She teaches us that we should all feel sexy, powerful, beautiful, and embrace our own indivuality that uniquely defines each and every one of us. xoxo I am trying to eat more healthy. I would like to tell you Im trying to make healthy eating a lifestyle...but Im not going to lie...I love all the foods that are bad for me. I am trying to do better...especially since I want to stay healthy and look good in my wedding dress. Ive cut down on fast foods and Im making a conscious effort to put healthier things into my body...after all it is God's temple, but today I ate 5 of those butter cookies. Don't judge me. God isnt through with me.
Anyways, today I decided to fake fry my catfish nuggets instead of frying them. I thought this was probably the dumbest idea ever ( like drinking non-alcoholic beer) but it turned out great! All u need is catfish nuggets, melted butter, corn meal, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cajun seasoning to give it a little kick. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Mix your corn meal and seasonings.( Season to taste) Wash your catfish nuggets and dip them in the melted butter and place your nuggets in the corn meal seasoning mix. Toss until all of the catfish nuggets are completely covered in the corn meal. Place on a baking sheet and stick them in the oven for 30-40 minutes. Oila! They look fried without the grease and taste great! There never seems to be enough time in the day. Between working a full time job, being a mom of a newborn and a teen, planning a wedding, spending time with my family and fiance, and running a business it seems I can never do all the things I really have my mind set on doing and what God called me to do.
My best friend recently discovered she had the same problem. We decided to hold each other accountable and have a weekly phone conference to discuss the things we are making our weekly goals to accomplish. We both share the same goals of leaving our full time job and running our businesses full time, and we both know the only way we are going to achieve that is with hard work. Having an accountability partner gives you extra motivation to do what you need to do as well as being a friendly reminder in case you get so caught up in your daily activities that you forget what you were supposed to do. My fiancé constantly asks if Im writing and doing the things I know I need to do in order to better myself, but sometimes you have to have structure and a set time to discuss what you need to do and to write down your plan for the week. Every successful person has someone that they can rely on to make sure they are getting the job done. Thats why it is so important to surround yourself with positive people who are trying to accomplish their own goals. No successful person became successful alone. A lot of people wonder if prayer really works. For those who rely on faith, prayer is the foundation for our lives. If you follow me on Facebook you may remember a post I made last week about prayer. In 9 days here in Little Rock, there were at least 34 killed from gun violence. This was followed by a mass shooting at a local night club. If you ask some people they will say, it was merely a coincidence that no lives were lost and only 2 were in critical condition, but for those of us who have children and rely on our faith...praying over our children and our loved ones is what prevented the fatalities.
My own personal testimony, just in the past year I can tell you prayer works, My personal testimony: A salary increase, my publishing company signed it's first client, spiritual growth i had been praying for, a bill passed which allowed pregnant Arkansas state employees 4 weeks of paid time off before exhausting their leave bank, and my mother recovered from abdominal hemorrhage and being in ICU walking around the next day after the doctors expected her to need a blood transfusion are just a few examples of how I know prayer is the catalyst for God to work wonders in my life.. So you see, I live by prayer. What most people may not know is during my darkest hour and a suicide attempt... I can say prayer saved my life. You hear people talk about a life or death situation and seeing a white light but you never hear about people who are almost spiritually dead and have a miraculous "awakening". I won't go into detail, but my own personal experience sitting in a full bath tub, in an empty house, on the day after Christmas, with a razor blade to my wrist that resulted in me lying face down in my room crying and praying...not because I wanted to, but because I had nothing left. My experience in that bathtub made me so scared that prayer was the only thing that freed me. I say to this day, if God calls you and you constantly ignore Him He will find a way to bring you to Him...even if that means bringing you down on your knees. My family was a witness . On that same night I returned home just as the prodigal son did in the bible: broken, and scared. From that day forward prayer became a vital part of my life as I learned that my relationship with God was a necessity. My relationship with God grew as the Spirit revealed things to me that I knew could only come from God. I began writing in journals daily...my love letters to God. Although I don't write as often, I talk to God daily sometimes all day because to me, my God is ABBA, my father. Do I still struggle with things? Yes. I am not perfect, but each day I do my best to be a reflection of God's love...The same love that saved me the day after Christmas in 2006. I truly believe that during this time in history it is imperative that we all establish a relationship with God and listen as He speaks. That doesn't mean you will be perfect, or even be obedient to what the Holy Spirit tells you every time...it simply means you learn more and more each day by the direct line of communication from you to God more about who He really is. xoxo |
