Today Caitlin Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner won the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest time to get 1 million followers on Twitter.
The transitioned woman formally known as Bruce Jenner, known for winning Olympic gold medals in the 80's, but most recently known as the stepfather of one of the biggest names in reality television, Kim Kardashian came out to the world today on the cover of Vanity Fair as Caitlin. Let me first say I do not believe God makes mistakes when he creates us to be man or woman. I think it is an individual's choice to want to be the opposite gender; not something they are born with. I do not agree with anyone's choice to be transgender, but I also do not judge the individual based on how they see fit to live their life. I think the Vanity Fair team did an excellent job with the photo shoot. Caitlin does look like a gracefully aging soccer mom. Her photo shoot was giving me a 1950s Greta Garbo, Bette Davis vibe. On the other hand, when I first saw the magazine cover my reaction was the same reaction I had when I watched Precious for the first time. In one scene, Precious was running down the street holding a bucket of chicken- I was appalled, horrified, and humored at the same time. After 60 something years and 10 children later, Caitlin says she is free to be who she always wanted to be. Although most of his/her children seem to be very accepting of their father/ mother's new transition, I do not agree with Caitlin coming out in this manner. Why not just join a transgender chatroom or a group that meet on the weekends like most people that go against normal society? Everyone deserves to be happy, but at what cost to their children and their family? I think society has become too accepting of things that have been considered taboo. If you chose to be gay, transgender, or like wearing bunny suits during sex, I feel like that should be something done behind closed doors and not something the rest of the world is forced to accept as if it is normal behavior.
