Horror movie fans cringed in fear when the return of Pennywise the Clown was released via the new It movie trailer. Stephen King's It was not only a horror movie classic, but for the readers who endured reading the entire novel it was a stroke of horror literature genius that very few horror movie authors could even compete with. What made It so scary wasnt the classic tale of monsters under the bed, or cliche' storylines with a surprising twist; It was a horror movie classic for both the literature and cinema world because It was the first novel and movie of its kind to expose true horror to the world... the terrifying reality of our own psyche. Our biggest childhood fears from werewolves to clowns was exposed by horror writer legend Stephen King. Our biggest fears as children were colorfully manifested in this horror classic.( Don't worry I'm not going to give you any spoilers if you have never read the book or seen the movie.)The most horrifying part of It wasnt the monsters or Pennywise- it was how we watched adults face their childhood fears and we wondered if this was some psychotic breakdown or if "It" was real. Stephen King made us cling to our seats because we really didn't know what to expect. All of us just knew that"It" was a collage of some scary creepy shit. Horror or Psychological thriller? Our mature minds attempted to find reason along with Richie, Beverly, Mike, Ben, and Stan as they faced their fears and prepared to face "It". What is It? It isnt the boogeyman lurking in the darkness. It isnt the monsters that hide under the bed. It is our deepest fears. The things our subconscious try to ignore to keep us sane. It is the fear of most parents at the thought of their child being laid to rest before them. It is the fear of the successful perfectionist losing everything they have worked hard for. It is the fear of the athlete that one day their bones may crack and be unrepairable. It is the fear that one day life may not be as good as it once was. It is the thing without a name...It's simply, "It". It is our driving force we all must conquer. The unspeakable beast that remains hidden in our minds... IT haunts us all.
