It seems like the recent reality television show craze took networks by storm. Dating shows, survival competitions, shows following has been stars, and of course, The Kardashians , have caused ratings to sky rocket. One of the most recent reality show crazes star wives mingling, mixing, fighting, and partying with other wives and girlfriends. Basketball Wives and the Real HouseWives franchise became one of the most talked about forms of reality television. The funny thing is, most of the shows actually have one or two real wives.
In at least one episode there is sure to be drama or cat fight. These wealthy ladies act more like trailer park harlots instead of respectable women in the community. Although most of them support charities and run successful businesses, the show seems to center around the negative effects these women have on one another when personalities clash. When I think of housewives I think of the June Cleavers, and Lucille Balls. Women from the 1950's who were respectable, honored their families, and had better things to do with their time besides pouring a glass of wine on their nemesis at a charity brunch. What message are we sending to young women? That it is okay to act like animals just for ratings? That the glamourous life revolves around who spends the most money instead of being glamorous for your husband and children? Somehow, society has lost its way from the values and standards that was once glorified on the big screen during the age of black and white television and even during the Cosby Show era. Drama sells because that's what we want to see. That doesn't make it right. If we as writers produced more positive roles for females instead of portraying them as scantily clad, heavy makeup wearing, vain, and rude clowns; I think their may still be hope for the young women who look at these women as modern day examples for the standards of being a wife. Call me old fashioned, but I think being a wife is an honor worth keeping sacred. A wife is woman of humble power, a nurturer, a goddess in her own right, and a help meet…not something to be made a mockery of for a few million dollars. A real wife is priceless because she is, "more precious than rubies. " (Proverbs 31:10) xoxo, Krystale Jane'l Psalms 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. Do you ever find yourself constantly working, but you never seem to get ahead? Are you in school and the more you seem to study your grades still seem to be mediocre at best? Psalms 127 tells us that until we allow God to be the center of our lives and stop doing things in our own will, we will forever be in a constant battle to stay ahead. God speaks to us directly if we call Him. What you may think is the right way to accomplish your goals may not be what God wants you to do to succeed. The bible says, "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path." This means not only coming to him with our problems but coming before him in counsel. If you open up your heart to God's word and His plan for your life;life becomes so much more easy. After, I completed my Bachelors degree I decided to get my Masters. I did not pray about this decision. It was just something I wanted to accomplish. I definitely did not seek God like I had when I made the decision to get my Bachelors degree. From the time I started, it seemed a struggle to stay focused. I was getting the work done, but barely passing my classes. I did not have the same tenacity I had while taking my courses for the Bachelors program. Finally, i made the decision to take a break. I felt like such a failure. Thats when I turned to God for comfort. His Spirit told me that was never his plan for me , but that was plan I had for myself. I even went against wise advice from family and friends because it was something I wanted to do. Learn to seek God in all areas of your life. God loves us and wants the best for us. It is up to us to come to him for revelation, wisdom, and understanding. When we learn to keep God first and allow him to do the steering; the roads become less bumpy. Sometimes temptation comes unexpected. Just when you think you have it all figured out and you are on the right path a stumbling block comes unexpected. It often seems when you are either the closest you have ever been to God, or when you are in a situation where you feel like you are at your breaking point that a simple solution seems like the answer.
In the midst of having personal issues, on the search for a job in my industry, and looking for a new home, it seemed like I was in so much confusion and turmoil. I questioned God. I was angry and depressed. That's when it seemed like temptation made a special visit to my doorstep. God had already delivered me from something, but Satan made it seem some like the right opportunity. After overcoming one form of temptation, it seemed that the very situation that I fought so hard to avoid presented itself again. I knew that this was a man down code 10 situation. This was a battle I would not be able to fight alone. Sometimes when we deal with things we become ashamed of our sin and we choose to keep it to ourselves out of fear of being judged or held accountable. In this particular situation, I knew I had to confide in someone. I went to my best friend and asked her to pray for me and it felt good to be able to talk about the sin openly. Although I had never acted on it, it was constantly in my mind. James 1:12says, "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." I knew this was my test and I knew it was something I had to overcome. I also read James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." I had to do whatever it would take to resist the devil. I prayed, praised, and ran from the situation. I claimed victory through the POWER of God and not through my own strength, I confided in my friend who wouldn't judge me, and I put my focus on God. Maybe you are faced with a situation right now that seems hopeless. Satan has a way of making things look so good. Do you struggle with sexual sin and that one person who maybe your weakness calls out of the blue? Are you tired of being rejected by jobs and contemplating making easy money the illegal way? Do you struggle with finances and you really want to make that unnecessary purchase that you know you don't need? Have you been trying your best not to curse, but everybody seems to be getting on your nerves? Whatever it is, seek God in prayer, read the scripture, and do whatever it takes to resist the devil. Even if it takes extreme measures like changing a phone number, giving someone you trust your credit card so you won't spend, praying, taking a moment of alone time to regroup, or getting up extra early to fill out applications. Whatever the case maybe, you will be rewarded in your due season. Love is an action. When we truly love others it is a reflection of how much we love God. In order to worship God fully we must truly sacrifice ourselves for Christ and our fellow brother. In Luke 7:36-39 we read about a beautiful example of sacrifice, love and worship.
Mary Magdalene a known sinner crashed a party in which Jesus himself attended. She then became so overcome with emotion that she wept at his feet, wiped away her tears with her hair, and poured an expensive oil called spikenard on Jesus' feet. The Pharisees that were attending the party saw this selfless act. They protested that Mary should not even touch Jesus since she was a sinner. His own disciple protested about the cost of the oil Mary poured on Jesus' feet. This simple act of humility, love, devotion, and sacrifice shows exactly what God requires from us. What is God asking you to sacrifice? Is it your time? Is God asking for one on one time with you? Is God asking you to sacrifice your finances to help someone in need? Is God asking you to sacrifice something you have been praying for so he can bless you with something better? If God sacrificed his only Son so that we could be free and enter heaven; how much harder should it be to sacrifice those things we know that God requires from us? Summer is amongst us and its time to get chic and summer ready. I'm a single mother who is all about deals and bargains. Here are 3 trendy and cute ways you can transform your wardrobe into a super cute summer fashion statement. 1. Ladies, if you have a large tshirt you can tie your tshirt and make a super trendy tube dress. If you are the type of girl who loves wearing her man's shirts you can also turn an over sized dress shirt into a sexy summer dress 2. If you have an old boring pair of flip flops laying around; turn them into a fun pair of colorful sandals. Take an old scarf, scissors, and your old sandals, cut your scarf, twist around the the the thong piece of your sandals, and wrap around your ankle. They become a pair of colorful sandals, and you can change the scarves to match any outfit! 3. Last, take that old maxi skirt or knee length skirt out of your closet, pull it up like a tube dress and pair it with a trendY belt or scarf and some super cute accessories. This works especially well if you have a solid color skirt , some fab pieces of chunky jewelry, or really cute shoes you want to show off.
Today Caitlin Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner won the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest time to get 1 million followers on Twitter.
The transitioned woman formally known as Bruce Jenner, known for winning Olympic gold medals in the 80's, but most recently known as the stepfather of one of the biggest names in reality television, Kim Kardashian came out to the world today on the cover of Vanity Fair as Caitlin. Let me first say I do not believe God makes mistakes when he creates us to be man or woman. I think it is an individual's choice to want to be the opposite gender; not something they are born with. I do not agree with anyone's choice to be transgender, but I also do not judge the individual based on how they see fit to live their life. I think the Vanity Fair team did an excellent job with the photo shoot. Caitlin does look like a gracefully aging soccer mom. Her photo shoot was giving me a 1950s Greta Garbo, Bette Davis vibe. On the other hand, when I first saw the magazine cover my reaction was the same reaction I had when I watched Precious for the first time. In one scene, Precious was running down the street holding a bucket of chicken- I was appalled, horrified, and humored at the same time. After 60 something years and 10 children later, Caitlin says she is free to be who she always wanted to be. Although most of his/her children seem to be very accepting of their father/ mother's new transition, I do not agree with Caitlin coming out in this manner. Why not just join a transgender chatroom or a group that meet on the weekends like most people that go against normal society? Everyone deserves to be happy, but at what cost to their children and their family? I think society has become too accepting of things that have been considered taboo. If you chose to be gay, transgender, or like wearing bunny suits during sex, I feel like that should be something done behind closed doors and not something the rest of the world is forced to accept as if it is normal behavior. |
